 Bierstadt Bachelorette Party

I was out there with 5 girlfriends and our "guide" Doug and his dog Bessie this past Saturday after flying into Denver from Minneapolis on Friday night (the active chicks‘ version of a bachelorette party!) - the weather was GREAT, the willows were NOT. We did not have snowshoes, so there was a lot of postholing action and frustration through the willows - but at least it was a beautiful day (really, a blessing and a curse since I knew the warm day would make the willows even more hellish on the way back down)! It had snowed quite a bit the night before and only one guy had gone up before us that day, so it was a tough hike having to trudge through the deep snow - I thought even tougher than Quandary, which I did in March - although when I did that one I had been staying in Breck already for 4 days and was used to the elevation AND the trail was packed down. Well, for this hike, I‘m glad I had my trekking poles, gaiters, and wish I‘d had snowshoes at some points. Anyway, not bad for 4 Minnesotans, an Iowan and a Californian - with the help of a very patient native - thanks Doug! I‘ll be back
