Well I went and attempted to do Bierstadt on Saturday. I drove up the from the Georgetown side and the road was pretty snowy. It looked like it had not been plowed in a while. I was in my pickup truck which does have 4 wheel and I only got to the top of the pass because a jeep came through and acutally made a better trail. I was just sliding all over the place. Anyway, since I had never been to Beirstadt before I was not clear on the trail except from what I saw on maps. Basically, it took me forever to get through the willows because I had to break trail. I was wearing my snowshoes and I was still into waist deep snow for good portions. When I finally made it up to the ridge it was not so bad. The wind was okay, and the ground did not have much snow on it. However, it took me so long to break trail, that I had to turn around before I got to the summit due to sunlight. Obviously, I started a little late! On the drive home I took the pass down to Grant and the road was not near as bad. Only the first mile from the summit down was not plowed, but the rest was great. I would personally recommend bringing snowshoes!!
