August 13 2005 from Yankee Boy Basin up standard route

Did Sneffels this last Saturday. This is an amazing peak. Everything about it is beautiful. Thanks to the late spring, there was still a bunch of wildflowers on the approach. The peaks in the area are all rugged and awesome. I brought my wife on this one for her 1st fourteener. She was in awe, but got spooked a bit with the final couple of moves because of the mild exposure.

I dont agree with the class 2 rating on this peak. Although it is class 1 or 2 for 99% of the route, the last part is not class 2. It would be impressive to see someone "walk" over the V-notch (I am not saying that it is impossible to do that without your hands - just not probable).

Anyway, it was an awesome trip and the weather seemed to clear up just long enough for us to do it. A great trip!!!
