Wilson Pk, Wilson/El Diente Traverse -Navajo Lake- 7/9-10/05

I was ColoradoScotts climbing partner for the Wilson-El Diente traverse on Sunday 7-10-05. Good report Scott, and thanks for the great company. I had a blast! We should hook up again for some Elks later this year.

On Saturday 7-9-05, climbed Wilson Peak solo. Started from Navajo lake at 6:15 am and easily made my way up to the ROA saddle. Had to cross several easy snowfields on the way up Navajo Basin. The route was then clear to the Wilson Peak/Gladstone saddle. I used the easy class 3 scramble under the cliffs after this due to a large snowfield covering the class 2 option below. The route to the false summit from beyond this point crosses only one small moderate snowfield. The view of the crux from the false summit makes it look way steeper and more difficult than it is, so dont fret. Summit at 8:50 am and took a hour nap on top with a pika (SP?). Very enjoyable day. Saw one other party of two doing Wilson Peak on the way down and a party of five climbing El Dientes North slopes route. Both parties came from Silver Pick.
