 Mt. Evans

Im not quite a wordsmith so I will keep this brief. I soloed this peak from Guanella Pass on Tuesday, January 24th, 2006.

First off, the pass was completely accessible and I made it to 11,700 ft in my front-wheel drive Saturn.

There was a defined trail and hard/dry snow nearly to the start of the gully then it got a bit deep in places. The trail branches to the right at the start of the gully and goes to what I would assume were some nice ice climbs. Dont go right unless you want to ice climb lol. Defined trail all the way up the gully.

From the ridge at ~13,500 there was no real trail but it was easy to follow. Still thought I needed my snowshoes on; itd be your call though.

Snowshoes off at ~13,900 and traversed on the best trail I could find to the summit. It was real patchy and hard to follow with no defined path. Im sure my trail out to the summit looks like a life-line wave but ooh well.

Route took me 7 hours from car-->back to car 8)
