 Mt. Evans

Hiked Mt. Evans via the Northeast face from summit lake on Saturday June 25th. It took me 1hour and 10 minutes to get from the parking lot at summit lake up to the summit. After hiking along the road a bit I picked up the trail near a tall metal pole marking the side of the road. There is also a good size crain marking the route, which is basically down the center of the gully. The trail was a small one yet easy to follow. A lot of snow melt was occuring so there were a lot of small creeks which made the hike enjoyable. It also made the lower sections muddy. The closer you get to the top the more talus apperas but it is still easy to locate the trail, just stay towards the right. There were a group of 5 goats that the tourist were in awe of but it kept them off of the real summit when I was there. Talked to a lady that did the hike from summit lake but up Mt Spalding then around the ridge to the summit of evans. She commented on the amount of snow and said she post holed a bit. Overall the weather held and it was a great hike.
