 Grays/Torreys 6/25/05

Climbed Grays & Torreys on Saturday morning, 6/25/05, along with my 11 1/2 yr. old son, Matthew. We also had three other dads with their sons, ages 9-14. It was a great father & son outing.

We arrived at the Stevens Gulch trailhead just after 6 am. Skies were just clearing as we hit the trail. There had been a slight dusting of snow during the night. We had great weather all morning, with temps in the 50s for the most part. It was 43 degrees at the summits and quite windy as normal.

Snow was minimal, except for several snow fields as we descended Torreys crossing back to the Grays trail. Several skiers were observed on Torreys, as well as a few glissading on their backsides and joyfully shouting. Looked like a lot of fun.

The Kelso Ridge route to Torreys looked very interesting -- I might have taken it except that we had the boys with us. Maybe another time this summer.
