 That nasty scree/rock descent...   

Ive learned during my many trips to Kite Lake that the best time to have to descend from Bross is early summer when the more westerly gully is still full of snow, but after the avalanche danger is definitely gone. You can glissade or plunge step most of the way down the snow for a very soft and comfortable descent with your ice axe! One year, I rode it from near the top of the trail nearly all the way to the basin! It was slow enough to not need to self-arrest yet fast enough to maintain the slide all the way down, and shallow enough to walk out of when finished with the slide! But beware the upper walls and top part of the gully when there might still be slide potential!! And I wouldnt do it without an ice axe and knowledge of how to use it.
