May 14, 2005 - Mount Lincoln,Putnam Gulch via Quartzville TH

The Quartzville TH is still snowed in. You can get about 100 yards up the FS access road, but you must park there due to large drifts along the road. Its posted as a no parking area, but Ive parked here several times with no issues. Dont park here in summer when the road is melted out, however.

We packed our skis up the FS road and part of the traverse to Putnam Gulch, where we began to skin. We had continuous snow from there to the summit. This descent is in great condition right now. There is little to no avy danger, and the lower gulch is in fantastic shape for a ski. Very fun. We followed the route Bill has on this site, with slight variations based on current conditions.

The weather was great until about 10am, when it began to cloud up a little.
