 7/2/05 Matterhorn Creek TH

After climbing Wetterhorn (see trip report in Wetterhorn thread) we left the summit at 8am and headed over to Uncompahgre. To get to the base of Uncompahgre was quite a trek across wet, muddy terrain but with good boots we had no problems. The standard trail up Uncompahgre was in great shape. Since this was the second 14er of the day it seemed like we would never get to the summit! But it finally came and it was well worth the effort. The summit was very big and comfortable and we stayed for about 40 minutes before heading back to Matterhorn Creek. Saw about a dozen other people on the trail.
