Peak: UN 13,130 Date: October 15, 2015 Trailheads: East Fork/ West Maroon Pass via Schofield Pass (start) and Rustler Gulch (finish) - car shuttle Stats: ~11 miles, 3,500 ft elevation gain/4,400 ft elevation loss, 8 hours 45 minutes GPS track Participants: Brittany Walker Konsella (mtnbikerskierchick) and Natalie Moran (SnowAlien)
There was one lesser thirteener that seemed to go unnoticed, probably because it doesn't have a name. Those keeping track of all the thirteeners in the state refer to this one as Unnammed 13,130. However, as we found out, the summit is labeled wrong. The knob next to the declared summit on the map actually rises a good 10 feet higher. But, we'll discuss that more later. Unnamed 13,130 lies on the ridgeline between West Maroon and Precarious Peak. That would be our goal for the day... To find out about Brittany's love for hiking very steep grass click here...

That’s my kind of Elk hunting! Just climbed Pyramid Peak this past summer and definitely want to return to this region again next year. Beautiful fall colors in such a gorgeous area! Thanks!
12ersRule – I do have an orange hat bought at Cabellas last year, it’s just this important photo documentation didn’t make it into the report. As soon as I hear any distant shots, the orange hat somehow quickly finds its way to the top of my head

Haha, no they were in the sale bins, so I didn’t have to ask. Not all, but some hunters are pretty nice And as you saw, the orange hat came rather handy on Dallas below the tree line after I heard some shots coming from Tom Cruise’s estate. 8) I’ll tell you my story of "idiot hunters/target shooters" later. It was actually pretty terrifying...
I’ve been wearing ridiculously bright colors while mountain biking lately. Yesterday, I rode by 50+ spent shotgun shells right alongside the trail. Not comforting at all. As for the redneck who left them there, you’re welcome, I packed them ALL out in my Camelback.

Mtgirl – yup, hunting season is "interesting". The key to some resemblance of safety is to avoid old mining 4x4 roads
Unfortunately, there are just enough bad apples (irresponsible shooters, loud, obnoxious hunters) that give us all a bad name. Just remember not all are "idiots"
