Antero via Little Browns Creek with Mountain Goats Aplenty

The standard route up Antero didn't sound too appealing. I hiked Little Browns Creek and had a pleasant hike. I never hiked the standard route but this has to be better. There is a nice forest walk, a nice alpine meadow, and minimal jeep road time. I had the entire day to myself except for a few jeeps/atvs on the road.
The roads to the trailhead can be passed by any car. This route should be listed on 14ers.com in my opinion.

Then the goats showed up. 21 in all. Because of my deathly slow internet and not wanting to upload pics twice I will share my blog page with the complete report and lots of goat photos (and other photos). Hope you enjoy!

Thanks for the blog posting. I'm hoping to climb Antero next Monday (9/6) and am considering this non-traditional route. I hope the goats are still around!

Little Brown Creek Route

I think you'll enjoy this route. It has to be nicer than the long slog up the jeep trails and it hiked pretty easy. It didn't seem like 14 miles.

I did Antero from Browns Lake this year. It was a great area to camp. We were the only people there that weekend except for day hikers. This was a great route as well although Little Browns Creek is quicker. I believe RT on ”Big” Browns Creek is 17 miles so its better as an overnight.
