These last two weekends in the Gores have been special ones. First, the Upper Slate Lake Basin peaks with a great crew and then a ridge on which I've long wanted to have a solid adventure. Asgard Ridge up Mt. Valhalla surely didn't disappoint. Hope you enjoy.
Now I'm really jealous!!
Especially since J didn't ask me to spend some romantic time with him next to Deluge lake!
Great write up Brandon. That seems like the pimp way to climb Valhalla!
That's a hell of a route. I hiked up to 'Asgard Lake' a couple years ago and remember looking up at that ridge in terror and thinking ”that looks impossible”. And then you go and do it without ropes. Well done.

Glad you got this one in, dude. I know you wanted it pretty badly. I agree with vonmackle's statement above. When I looked at those towers along the ridge from the summit of Valhalla, I turned gray.
And I'm grateful Rick was not waiting for J at Deluge Lake. The giggles coming from their tent the weekend before will have me in therapy for months.
Also, it is an honor to be bookended in the summit register by Chalk trips, even if the first one involved that guy Monster5...
Rick - I think you and J had enough romantic time at Slate, buddy, to last a good couple months
boudreaux - We brought two alpine 30m/8mm ropes, 6-7 BD C4 cams, set of nuts, and a good half dozen slings/biners, and a few lengthy pieces of webbing.
Vonmackle - So cool you went into Asgard Lake. Man, what a basin!
Kev - Always good to be bookended by Chalk trips, eh buddy? But, yes, that Monster5 dude. Ugh...what a nuisance
Thanks, Jay & Mike.
Cheers, everyone!
