Stop the Madness: My final 14ers

The time had finally come. It was Labor Day weekend, and my plan was to make a run at finishing the 14ers if the weather held and my legs didn't give out. I had 4 peaks left, Crestone Needle, Crestone Peak, Ellingwood Point, and Blanca Peak. Overall, I was 54 peaks in, with 23 climbed this year. Plan A was to knock out the Crestones on Aug. 31 and then go for Ellingwood and Blanca on Sept. 01. Plan B was to split up the Crestones and finish the last two some other weekend in the Fall, but I really didn't want to go down that road......

I think my husband and I ran into you on the traverse! We summitted Blanca first and then made our way to Ellingwood. I think we crossed passed in the middle. Awesome that your dog was there for your finish!! Congrats again! It turned out to be a great day!!

It was a really fun ride and nice to finally take a breather! Aliciaf, it was nice running into you. You must have had an amazing summit on Blanca with the sunrise! Normally my wife hikes with me but decided to stay at lower elevation that day. My dog sure was happy to come along though, especially since she got left behind on way too many climbs this summer.

Congrats. Don't you ever sleep? Congrats to Maddy, too; she looks like a top-notch climbing buddy.

in the back of my truck in the late afternoon is where I usually reside. Maddy is an awesome climbing dog and pretty much lives for that fresh mountain air. I think she's over 40 14ers, but I stopped counting a while ago.
