 Keller Mountain Loop

We had a fun day up on Keller's east ridge and making a loop traverse over to the North Traverse Peak saddle. Maybe some of these pictures will be helpful to those in the future. Enjoy!

Keller is a fun one.     2013-07-30 08:18:11
Just wish I'd done the loop like you guys did - That looks like WAY more fun than just going back down the way I went up. Love your pics!

Sure is a fun one, Jay.     2013-07-30 08:38:33
Yep, the loop was nice to do...always try and do a loop whenever possible. Just makes things more interesting! Hope you are great!

Nice, Brandon!     2013-07-30 09:13:48
The loop looks nice. I think we might give Keller a go this weekend. Maybe try to cut down a bit earlier on the ridge (12850ish gully to a small lake) to avoid the willows, or is that still a wallow?

Yep, I think even if you cut down the ridge a bit earlier than the saddle with North Traverse, you'll still have to deal with some dense forests and willows. When you are in willows/forests at a point pretty much below the point along Keller's east ridge where the scrambling starts, look for a small boulder field just north of Rock Creek and you'll see some cairns at the edge of the forests. That will put you on the trail back to Boss Mine. Have fun bud.

That would be a classic excuse     2013-07-30 10:03:14
If you missed a wedding cause you were bushwacking. I'd love to hear that conversation play out.

By the way - did you ask that grouse if he had seen my chocolate covered peanut butter malted milk balls at the base of the Silver Couloir? I know those little bastards have them, just gotta rattle their cage.

A very classic excuse, Brian...     2013-07-30 10:13:12
...which I think could be taken several different ways Likely all bad ways not painting the Chalks in a good light. Nope, dude, Kristine asked that grouse about those milk balls and he said the ptarmigan has em.

Just missed you, chalk...     2013-07-30 11:10:56
I recognized you in the lot but it was too early for conversation. Sarah and I took off about five minutes before you. We figured we'd catch you coming back from the summit but you guys were off again.

Nice run...

Very funny, Pap! Yep, definitely a bit early for conversation. I'm sorry we didn't run into each other. Another time for sure. Hope you and Sarah had a nice day up there.

Thanks, Brandon...     2013-07-30 12:15:26
We did have a good time up there. For a while we thought your group was gonna tack on North Traverse. I started feeling very inadequate on the descent.

We'll look for you the next time we visit the range.

You got it, Pap     2013-07-30 13:45:28
Give me a shout next time you guys head up into the Gores. Yeah, would have been fun to shuttle a car over to Deluge and maybe tack on that Gore Grand Traverse to make a real long day, but alas wedding duties sometimes call. Cheers!

A Big Day!     2013-07-30 15:34:31
Fun loop in the Gores followed by a wedding and a late night I'd imagine. That's a fulfilling way to spend a Saturday!

Definitely, Ben     2013-07-30 15:42:51
Let's just say I took a long nap Sunday afternoon. Man, it felt nice

Fun loop!     2013-07-31 09:31:25
I did the same loop last year, and had an exciting bushwack as well. Really nice airy scrambling!
