After being bandaged, iced and barely being able to walk the previous afteroon coming off Sunshine, I somehow made a miraculous recovery overnight and was full of piss and vinegar for Wetterhorn. I didn't sleep well because I was so excited for Wetterhorn and so anxious that I might physically be unable to do it. When I rose without pain, I wasn't going to ask any questions - I just wanted to get as far up the mountain as possible before a return of pain might make me reconsider.
I don't know how this happens
Looking back down the trail from whence we came (You'll note my use of the word, "whence" -- that's how we keep it real up in Colorado, yo.)
Into the high country
There is an extended boulder field with grass in between oversized boulders which was very Tolkein-esque. Or at least Tolkein-esque to someone who knows him only through the Peter Jackson movies and the New Zealand landscapes... Allright, so this was very New Zealand-esque. Happy?
Middle Earth video (nothing extraordinary happens -- just included for ambiance in what I think is a really interesting landscape)
The prize is in sight
Beautiful weather keeps us smiling
Let the steeps commence!
Wetterhorn ascent video (very long - the rock climbing begins at 13:30 if you want to skip ahead)
Wetterhorn summit pano vid
Time to leave...
