 Sherman - Standard route

First time posting a trip report, I'll keep it brief.

Route was Mt Sherman with mostly Southwest (Standard Route). Had to detour several times due to snow patches. The 14ers app helped out on the general route though. The snow route looks clearer than the standard route. With enough detouring, you probably could ascend most of the standard route without going through snow but it would be tough.

At 7 am the snowpack was still hard and slippery. Was able to walk across it no problems, used boot chains once on a steep ascent. By 9 am the snowpack in the lower section was quite soft and I postholed a few times trying to cross it. The snow on the lower section was already melting pretty good by 9 am, with lots of running water and soggy ground.

The summit ridge is still covered in snow, but previous tracks have roughed it up some and its not slippery up top. Summit ridge was very windy and cold.

Coming down, there was three excellent glissading spots. The best one is from the saddle between Mt Sherman and Mt Sheridan, leading down to the hilltop mine. However, the lower section snow was so soft and wet that glissading was very slow and gets you quite wet.

Total climb and decent took about 3 hours.
