A rare summit descent of the west slopes

We got a rare summit ski/snowboard descent of Bierstadt. An easy mountain to hike but not so easy to ride as there is rarely any snow. Here is a link to the whole story!;Mt Bierstadt Trip Report

Or maybe ski yoga... That's what the summit ski off Bierstadt felt like to me. At least once, my skis were level with my head as I was going over those rocks

pretty boring ski     2013-05-08 14:35:24

was up there on the 4th and thought there's no way to ski through all that. of course, a week later looks like it made a lot of difference from your pics. nice job!

Otina- That picture is awesome! If someone asked what it is like to ski down Bierstadt, your picture would capture it better than any other I can think of.
nkan- Well, relatively speaking it was boring when compared to a couloir (which I would much rather do) but it was still a great day out and better than any day at a ski resort or not outdoors. I enjoyed myself anyway!
dfrizzle-Yeah, not surprised to hear that. I thought things would melt out quickly. It took four or five snow season attempts to actually find enough snow to ride from the summit and I definitely spent some time hopping around on rocks!
Now on to couloir season. (I hope...new storm slabs please go away so we can enjoy)....

Zach-sweet work. I saw your conditions post and rode it that Sun and it was in way better shape than I hoped off the top. Thanks.
