Riding the Skillet and other Teton adventures

Here is a link to my trip report from climbing and snowboarding the Skillet Glacier on Mt. Moran in Teton National Park. This is one of Chris Davenport's "Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America," and one of Lou Dawson's choice descents mentioned in his "Wildsnow" book. Here is the link:

Looks like an awesome line in a grand setting. Gotta add another to the list I guess! Nice job and congrats to all involved.

Great report, Zach!

Whenever I see ”Moran” I think of this:

Well done!     2012-07-03 16:42:08
Still lots of snow in the Tetons and Idaho this year!

Cool line!!     2012-07-03 18:02:08
You briefly mentioned crevasses on the glacier. Did you guys rope up at any point??

Awesome!     2012-07-04 21:24:56
The more reports I see of this ski descent, the more I want to head up there and ski it. You have officially convinced me to add this to my list.

AWESOME REPORT! You guys rock!

It was a good time     2012-07-05 08:59:19
Yeah this line was defintely in my top ten favorite ski lines. I am glad you guys enjoyed the tr.
Terry that Moran post is awesome
mtnfriend, we did not rope up on the climb. I do not think most people do, although there is the possibility of breaking through a snowbridge in one place and falling in. The crevasses were plenty big. The crevasses we saw were where the handle of the Skillet meets the pan and they were decent sized.

Nice!     2012-07-05 09:42:54
Sweet ride Zach. Saw this when you posted on FB. A great line that's been on my list for a couple years. Love the canoe approach. I haven't followed weather in Jackson since I was there in January so at first glance I naively thought this trip was recent and got even more excited! Next year perhaps.
