 Mt Evans from Summit Lake

Started at Summit Lake at 8am and returned at 3pm. My GPS watch said it was 3.25 miles to the summit and 6.5 miles total round trip. It took us 7 hours. We stopped at the summit to eat lunch and with all the other stops we did (peeing, snacking, taking photos, catching our breath, etc) we figured we had 45 min to 1 hour of downtime. The climb wasn't too challenging overall. Some steeper areas and there was some bouldering but nothing too scary. I think this hike was easier than Mt Elbert even though it is classified as more difficult. Saw lots of mountain goats and marmots. The views were spectacular! Breathtaking really! I am in pretty good shape, do lots of hiking and drank tons of water but still ended up with altitude sickness on the descent which was miserable. I would still recommend this hike - it was awesome! A couple small patches of snow present but nothing major.

I really like this route. Glad you had fun (except for the sickness).
