 Thunder and Cathedral

Colin, Matt and I climbed Thunder Pyramid on Friday and skied off of it... just kidding.

Colin and I went on to Cathedral on Saturday. Both writeups are here - Thunder and Cathedral

and here's some amateurish helmetcam footage. I welcome any suggestions to improve this -

Way to go     2012-06-10 21:03:16
Nice job scoring two Centennials. They are certainly on my radar for this summer. Thunder looked easier than I've heard it described by others - more like on-par with Snowmass West Slopes?

It's been 5 years...     2012-06-10 21:53:36
...since I climbed the Snowmass W. Slopes route but I felt like this was a little steeper and more junky. The interesting climbing is very brief and close to the summit. Route finding will keep you thinking though.

Thanks for sharing     2012-06-10 23:59:02
Thunder Pyramid just got bumped to my short list, great work conquering one of the most infamous Elks and another of the top 100

Nice job boys!     2012-06-11 05:12:09
Way to get 2 centennials. Thunder is sweet! Great vid and TR as always Prakash. We're getting out this summer - no excuses!

Well done!     2012-06-11 06:30:05
Thanks, in turn, for showing me what Thunder Pyramid looks like without a bunch of snow.
You're breaking new ground, putting a little Darwin into the trip report section with the consistent ”Post Climb Meal” section headers. This is a big part of the day, and you've given it proper respect. I hope to see more of this.

In Leadville. It's probably been 6 years since I've been in that place. I miss Rosie's Brew Pub. Snow is looking thin, but congrats on 2 great Elk Summits. Talked to Colin on his way home and you could hear the relief in his voice. Prakash, our paths need to cross one of these days. I think I missed you by 2 minutes at Brian's place last month.

Entertaining as always     2012-06-11 10:26:51
Your reports are always so much fun to read! Good to see Colin finally got Cathedral too. I'd say it's high time we get out again; let's make it happen

Congrats!     2012-06-11 10:32:20
And thanks for the food pointers. Aspen is a tough place to find a quick, inexpensive meal.

good to see old faces in the comments section...     2012-06-11 10:53:12
Ridge runner: Where have you been? Colin barely managed to escape with his life on this one.
Floyd, shoot me a pm if you're planning any more Gore trips. My schedule is probably more flexible than yours and I can likely make it work.
Matt, when I gave props to your Cathedral report I didn't realize I was giving props to del_sur. I didn't recognize 'Matt'. How have you been man?
USA, I would get out with you but your new gangsta avatar freaks me the hell out.
Monster / Jesse, thanks for the comments. The smartphone was put to solid use in finding cheap eats in Aspen.

It was a pleasure meeting you guys as well!     2012-06-12 10:15:55
Here is a pic of Prakash starting the couloir, taken from the top:

You guys really cruised up to the lake. I apologize for waking you and Colin up at the trailhead.

Nice...     2012-06-11 22:14:44
Thanks for the pic. Nah no worries, we got enough sleep. When you said that your wife had gone over to Electric Pass Pk I first thought she'd traversed over from Cathedral. I thought that was hardcore.

Your helmet cam, considering I am doing that pk in the next few weeks was totally freakish. What a pile of rubble. Well done.
