Since I had not been super active (aerobically) during the winter-we chose Sherman to be our first peak of the year.
Up the road toward the peak
It is always windy on this peak but it was not so much that it was miserable this time.
This cabin roof had been lifted right off! It was there last time.
There is a snow field to go across which was pretty solid and with my poles, I felt pretty confident crossing it. I was not looking forward to the return as there had been a steep section at the end that was going to be tricky going down.
The saddle and ridge line was windy but there was only one spot that my husband grabbed my hand to help me not get blown over.
toward the summit
On the descent we stayed on the ridge and went past the snow field and down. It was fun to go a different way as we also went by a mine that we had not gotten close to before.
Counted 10 people total with a number of them getting their first 14er summit that day.
Wonderful day and great way to start the climbing season.
