Chicagoans (and a Hoosier) on Hoosier Ridge
Sorry about the belatedness of this report. I understand how time-sensitive reports are in the winter. But unfortunately I didn't get around to getting everything uploaded and put together until now. Please enjoy though if it is useful to anyone who seeks to hike Hoosier Ridge in the winter. The bulk of my report is on my own hiking blog and the link is here. But I've also included the basic photos of our route here in case anyone doesn't want to click through. http://hiking.polarhaven.net/hike.php?id=82 Here are the photos and roughly where they were taken along the route: A look at the snow in the trees near Hoosier Pass Deeper into the trees, a good trench. A look up the initial slope. Plenty of grass showing. The "bend" in the ridge is just ahead. A look at the remaining hike along Hoosier Ridge Most of the ridge was firm wind-blown snow. We used only micro-spikes up here. So many humps on this ridge, get used to the ups and downs. A look at the last humps before the summit, which really can't be seen yet.
