Belford to Oxford Traverse - Winter 3/10/2012

There's a recent TH / road conditions update here too - that would've helped my planning immensely. http://www.summitpost.org/belford-to-oxford-traverse-winter-3-10-2012/780886

Poor rabbit, tricks are for kids. Maybe the bear is lodging in Vicksburg for the winter?
Thanks for posting!

Wow, I can only imagine how tough that must have been, and how comical it must have looked as well!

Great job getting back on the horse, Prakash!

Thanks for the write up! I was wondering if some bears would start poking around soon.

Darin... he probably has a cozy setup by now... there didn't seem to be much human traffic in the area since Jan.
Aaron, I'm glad you weren't around to get any pics this time. It warn't pretty.
Austin, my rainfly rustling in the wind kept me up all night... the critter kept me playing scenes in my head of how I would heroically defend myself (by urinating profusely in his direction) when attacked.
Kush - I think yes. Snow is a little deep on the sides for the last mile. You should be golden if you keep the vehicle steady right down the middle of the road. Besides it's melting fast and I'm sure it will be a lot drier if you head up this weekend.

Thanks for the comments

Glad you made the trip even though you didn't get any takers, Prakash. You really made great time and it looks like quite a wallow beyond the track. No trench poaching asterisk next to your winter ascent!

Thanks for the beta you guys posted. I even managed to find a dry patch for my tent... felt like I was camping in fall. Nice work on Unc. I also carried my skis to the Notch there. Skis saved me a ton of time on the descent on that route.
