Sunrises and Sunsets - Chicago Basin by way of Endlich Mesa

It took me awhile to get this one done. Over 140 photos total (down from over 1,000 taken). A few videos too. Phew. Amazing approach. Difficult. Highly recommended. Not for the faint of heart.

Check out the full trip report:

Great photos     2011-09-14 04:12:58
very good photos on the 100summits website. What kind of camera did you use? I have been looking at investing in a good camera.
Thanks.

What a trip!     2011-09-14 05:43:03
Well done. I love the night sky shots. I don't want to know how long it took you to process all of those photos.

Camera     2011-09-14 06:34:55
Hi dehrlich101 - I shoot a Nikon D7000 - it has won several awards and is probably the best choice if you want the best bang for the $ in a DSLR. But maybe too much $ if you're just getting into things. I love using Snapsort.com to compare cameras.

Vonmackle - I think it took me about 20 hours of editing plus another 8 to write the report? Maybe I'm slow... LOL

Obviously taking great pictures is a passion of yours! I really can appreciate the trip through those photos. I NEED to get down to the Chicago Basin sometime soon.

You are a friggen ridiculous photographer. Nice trip, I did Chicago Basin from Purgatory and I am even more convinced now that the train is NOT the way to get there

Thanks all.     2011-09-14 10:52:26
Agreed! I still have not been on that train and I've done Vestal and Arrow too. I might just give it a go when I do Pigeon and Turret though! Thanks for the kind words!

Very talented eye you have! I really enjoy your reports and photos man. And not just because you include Right Said Fred music videos in them either.

You are right about sunsets on mountains     2011-09-14 12:25:30
- I just experienced that on Uncompaghre - it was special. A bit weird coming down in the dark knowing that if you blew out an ankle you would be waiting a looong time for help.

Great photos and write-up Matt. It was good bumping into you at the twin lakes crossroads. Keep up the good work buddy!
