 Bierstadt gets crowded

Hit the trail at 6:20 AM. Just a few folks on the trail at that time. Lots of frost on the boardwalks leading to the creek. Stepping stones on the creek were slick with ice, as were several sections of the trail. Several flatter spots make it easy to get your wind back during the climb. Bit of a rock scramble on the last hundred feet or so. Icey conditions made this a little trickier.
Lot's of people at the top. I would say a couple of hundred hit the trail today. Relatively fresh snow close to the summit. probably around 32 degrees at the summit. Nice out of the wind, but some cold weather gear, including light weight gloves are a plus. Trail was a bit slushy and slippery on the descent, as the ice melted.
5 hour round trip. Nicely does it.

I hiked Bierstadt the same day. I hit the trail around 5:30 AM, and was really glad that I did. I had the summit to myself for about 15 minutes. On the way down I passed a very long line of people heading up and the parking area at the trailhead looked like a shopping mall parking lot in December.

I really enjoyed the hike up. The weather was great and I met lots of friendly people that day.
