Route profile

Parked at the South Winfield TH and hiked up the 4WD road to about 10,390' where I headed off to the left on another 4WD road making up the start of the North Ridge route.

Taken along the North Ridge route with Point 12,622' on the left and Middle Mountain on the right.

On Point 12,622 looking down on Winfield

I met up with a guy heading down from Point 12,622' that has a cabin in Winfield. Every 4th of July he would head up and place a flag in honor of someone and then take it down over the Labor Day weekend, fold it up and send it off to the family members of the person it was honoring. This year he blew out his knee and wasn't able to place the flag on the 4th. He finally healed up enough to drive his ATV up the switchbacks to about 12,140' and hike the rest of the way on 9/4 with the plan of leaving the flag there for a month. The unfortunate part of this year's ritual was due to the person it was honoring. His father-in-law passed away this year after 14 years of COPD and supplemental oxygen. Flag atop Pt 12,622' with Winfield below and 13er Ervin Peak above Winfield. La Plata Peak can be seen in the left background and high 13er Mount Hope to the right.

Clohesy Lake from Pt 13,462'. 14er Missouri Mountain on the left of photo connecting to 13ers Iowa and Emerald Peaks. In the saddle between Missouri and Iowa is, I believe, 14er Mt Harvard off in the distance.

My remaining route from Pt 13,462'...Browns Peak, connecting ridge and then Huron.

Switchbacks to Pt 12,622' where the flag was on the left and then ridgeline up to Middle Mountain.

Remaining route from Browns Peak showing Pt 13,518' and then Huron. I pretty much stayed on the ridge or just right of the ridge all the way to joining up with Huron's Northwest Slopes route.
