 Mt. Massive Trail Run!

Mt Massive Trail Run!

I have been itching to get into the mountains & do some trail running ever since I DNF at the Grand Mesa 100 in July. I looked at plenty of mountains & decided on Mt. Massive, it appealed to me because of the Colorado Trail leading up to it. The CT is a great trail I have ran many of the sections but this one would be new to me. I left the TH at 0600 with only a few cars in the parking lot. I really enjoyed the first 3 miles leading up to the Mt. Massive trail, the nice single track was beautiful catching a glance at the surrounding mountains through the trees. I was keeping an eye on my garmin & the first three miles flew by getting to the Mt. Massive trail in 32 minutes. I hit the Mt. Massive trail & started the decent up, mostly all of this trail is very runnable except the the top 1- 1.5 miles. I passed a few people on the way up but mostly the trail was free to be mine. I hit the summit after some class 2 climbing in 2:25 & sat down to enjoy the view. After 10 minutes I headed back down the trail running the whole way & was surprised after the 13.35 miles on my garmin & time was 3:57! The day was beautiful & a great way to get over the disappointment of my last ultra. My overall thoughts where a great trail with a gradual ascent until some great class 2 climbing the top. My only mistake was having to work at 7pm that night & not doing Mt. Elbert that same day also.

P.S. There is "NO" finish line!
