 Elbert east Route

Started trip from trailhead 0630am- 40 degrees at trailhead.
The four wheel drive road from the campground will save you 2 miles and was easy using my honda pilot9Image 1)
Starting out on the colorado trail is a easy hike (image 3). after a short hike you will find a trail heading left and up (image 2). This is the MT. Elbert trailhead. It is a moderate climb up that last about 40 minutes then levels off at tree line (image 4)
It gets windy and a little chilly at about 13,500 feet becauase the trail is open. (image 5)
The top of MT elbert is spacious and there is plenty of room to take a break(image 6). I was at the summit by 9am- By 930am there was already about 10 hikers at the top. As always, everyone was nice and anxous to talk about the hike.
