Portugal's Highest Point- Right in the Middle of the Atlantic Ocean

Mtnbikerskierchick and I recently spent our honeymoon in Spain and the Azores. For those of you who don't know, the Azores are an island chain 1,000 miles off the coast of Portugal and 2,000 miles from the coast of New England. As luck would have it, one of the islands we visited had a volcanic summit which was not only the highest point of the islands, but also the highest point of Portugal. Not only were the Azores one of the most amazing places I've ever visited (or could even imagine visiting), but the summit of Pico was a surreal place, suspended over the clouds and the vast ocean. Anyway, a full TR along with some of our other adventures in the Azores can be found HERE.

The vastness of the oceans is a little frightening to me! Great photos, Frank!

I hear ya, tmathews- as a CO native I flat-out don't ”get” water. I wish I did, since surfing especially looks like a blast to me. Maybe some day...
