Snowbridges below Andrews Tarn     2011-08-09 11:30:39
Looks like an amazing day! I went up Flattop and Hallett that day and had considered descending via Andrews Glacier, but I'd been up that way the previous weekend and turned back because of the sketchy snow bridges just below the tarn (didn't have ax), and wasn't sure the conditions would be better (though I did have my ax this time, at least). Have those melted out or broken off yet?

The snow on the trail up to Andrews is mostly avoidable now, but there was still one spot that we needed to cross. There were very large, flat footprints to step across on, it was fairly low down on the slope, and only about twenty paces.

Silver Spring Beer'n Brat Horseradish Mustard. So good.

great pics. Love that view of Longs; you don't usually see images from that side.
