 Bierstadt--west slope tuesday 7/26

I went up bierstadt today as I needed to find something close to the Front Range for a quick day hike. I got a late start which was complicated by roadwork on my way into the area and did not get to the trailhead until 9:30, So I left and beelined to the base and then I slowed down on the uphill. Passed a few other people on the way up saw plenty of people coming down. I reached the summit at about 11:45. Relaxed for a few minutes, I was startled by a marmot or something at the very top as I put my pack down and he was right there. The clouds were looking ominous and it started to rain as I started down. It rained for about 15 minutes, then sun came out and all was well again. After that I just headed down, ate lunch and left.
