 Sunrise from 14,015 feet...

Sorry again for the delay. After a week and a half of photo editing and a belated birthday celebration for my incredible wife, I was finally able to get caught up on my trip reports. Please enjoy my latest installment, which surely felt great to finally write.

Wetterhorn is easily in my top 5 mountains of all time. What an amazing experience.

Thanks for visiting!

That HDR Pano looks like it should be in a gallery selling for hundreds of dollars. Nice job!

Great report! I enjoyed reading it. Now I know who the ”photographer” was! thanks for mentioning me on the report
Yes, wasn't that plane something, it caught us by surprise when we were climbing the wall, we just saw his tail as he turned.

Matt, way to go dude! Hey man, I have to say...you're doing the hard part already. Making the summit before sunrise takes precision planning, execution and most of all.. motivation. Most people just won't get up that early to work hard. But once you experience that kind of moment, nothing will ever compare unless you do it again. Sorry, going forward you will be jaded.

The easy part is to carry a tripod. Most any tripod will do your photography big time justice. Over the years I've spoken to many great photographers and asked the question, ”what was the single best advice you have received to make your images better?” Most will tell you it's the tripod. Shooting RAW will be a close second. I love your passion. Passion for being there when it (magic light) all goes down, and passion for the mountains! I'm here for ya man, let me know if you need any advice.

Thanks man     2011-07-17 12:32:08
Kane - I really appreciate the comments and advice - as you know, I really think your work is amazing. I did bring a tripod with me a couple of weeks ago - that was fun. I am hoping to get a lighter weight tripod soon to carry up with me. For now, my Gorilla Pod will have to do! I already shoot RAW, so that's good!

And thanks again!
