Gash Ridge to Blanca Peak, Ellingwood Point

This details my climb of Gash Ridge to Blanca Peak, traverse to Ellingwood Point and abandoned attempt at a continued traverse to California Peak. Ultimately I ended up re-climbing Ellingwood Point and hiking down the Lake Como Road.

I've wanted to try the Gash Ridge but it sounds like that north ridge on Ellingwood isn't the best. Would you reverse the trip and ascend the north ridge and descend the Gash instead?

Thanks!

If I were to try Ellingwood's North Ridge from Huerfano Basin, then I would definitely rope up. Which direction you would go would depend on whether you'd rather rappel and avoid the worst of the stuff off Ellingwood or try to climb it. But yes, Ellingwood's north ridge (near the Ellingwood-13,618 saddle) was worse rock than Gash Ridge. Overall I thought Gash Ridge was pretty solid, with a few short-lived exceptions.
