 Newb group on Democrat

The road is still closed short of the trailhead by about 3/4 of a mile, and doesn't look like that's going to change for a couple more weeks at least.

Took a group from work up Mount Democrat this past weekend. My intent was a nice easy fourteener since only one had ever hiked in Colorado before, but the snow conditions sure made it more than that. I ended up cutting steps on a semi-steep snow slope and having to follow the ridge direct after the saddle. In the end though I think they got a trip they really enjoyed.

We were only able to follow the trail from about 12,800 up to the saddle at about 13,400. Everything else was buried in snow. Haven't seen that much snow in June in a very long time.
