7:00 a.m. Depart Upper Trail Head
9:45 a.m. Summit
12:20 p.m. Return to Upper Trailhead
For a guy that is used to climbing solo, it was a good change of pace to meet up with a bunch of folks (25) that share this common interest. It is also good to meet fellow 14ers.com folks like Alpine and Mikefromcraig (who actually lives in Trinidad).
It was also good to hang out at the gate the night before the climb to just shoot the breeze.
Pretty uneventful day and there are probably many other trip reports for this mountain that read like this one, but here it goes.
It was great weather but a little hazy in the distance. I'll just let the captions on the pictures tell the rest of the story.
After about a 1,000 ft climb up the drainage, this is the first look toward the summit as you gain the ridge.

The Spanish Peaks to the SE. For my Texas friends, these are the two peaks you see close to I-25 near Walsenburg.

That would be where Trinidad, CO is in this skyline shot.
All in all it was a good day out at altitude. Good warm up climb for the start of the summer. My right knee declined the side trip over to Red Mountain on this day.
