 drifts at treeline

Sunday, trail was clear all the way to tree line- there were snow drifts embedded in the Crags and drain ditches with clear spots scattered between drifts. Drifts and exposed area sizes varied between 10 feet to 70yards long and/or wide. No way to tell the shallows from deep spots- just had to test it out.... yeah there will be some post-holing, but nothing that should discourage you But there were several wandering off-trail foot traffic that can mislead hikers who are not familiar/confident of the "true" trail location/plotting at tree line. Knee high gaiters and hiking boots were enough to make the hike sporting and more fun to traverse. the wind was not bitter but was annoying.

We were on the mountain the same day - on the ascent, we ended up on the old trail because of the snowfields at the junction.

On the way down, we were on the CFI-improved trail. Much better!

Was there three of you around 2ish at 12,500?? if so, we actually had talked to you about the trail - and if you were descending on it above us... weird - yeah, we turned around at 12,500 and bushwacked back to 11,000
