Deer Creek Trailhead Trailhead

Info: 10+ cars made it to upper trailhead, mix of 4wd and AWD. A bit of snow sliding needed but very doable

Info: Road is plowed until the Deer Creek Campground, and then we parked around .25-.5 miles after the CG. Any 4WD vehicle will not have a problem getting to the trailhead, as of now. There had been recent traffic as recent as today (1/20).

Info: There are still two small pesky, rutted snow/ice patches. There were a couple cars in addition to the 4wds at the TH and the patches looked negotiable.

Info: 4WD with clearance was necessary on Saturday 4/1. Fairly deep off-camber snow ruts were a sloppy mess in the afternoon on the exit. There was a Subaru Outback that was stuck and caused a 30 minute backup exiting while folks got them unstuck. I would not attempt this road with a Rav4 / CRV / Subaru until the end of April.

Info: Summer TH is still reachable, though I’d be weary of driving past campground without 4wd and clearance.

Info: Road to trailhead had a few inches of snow on it, but my Subaru outback did fine. Not sure I would try without decent tires. Few cars came in after me so I thought it would make the drive out easier, but I was still sliding around.

Info: Final portion of the road was snow-packed and slippery. A 2wd with good tires could make it.

Info: Nothing but a dusting of snow on the road that was gone later in the day.

Dry, no 4WD needed at all

Info: 4WD not needed at all - there are some pretty good size potholes and a few scattered softball size rocks but there were all manner of vehicles there when I got back. Only a few vehicles there at midnight (no camping at trailhead or within 100ft of the trail, however parking is allowed...) but by noon it was as crowded as the Quandary lot.

Info: Road is snow free. All snow is off to the sides of the road so any vehicle should be able to make it to the TH, just move slow over those potholes!

Info: Unlike last weekend, today the TH parking was completely snow-free. That doesn’t mean, however, it is easy to get to. I’d say the last 2/10 of a mile to the TH are the easiest and snow free for the most part. There are snow free spots earlier along the road as well, but there are still some nasty ruts with the center mound snow/ice up very high. Vehicle clearance is key. AWD/4WD can’t hurt either and it does get pretty sloppy in the afternoon.

Info: Snowpack is started to build up on the road past the campground and tire track ruts are starting to form in places. Not advisable for low clearance vehicles, 2WD is debatable. AWD and 4WD should be still be good, there were four of these cars in the TH lot this morning.

Info: Besides one small patch, road to TH is clear and dry. Some new pot holes from the winter but any vehicle could make it.

Info: A 4x4 with good tires is recommended The road past the campground has significant snow

On my way out a Subaru was stuck and in my attempt to go around I also got stuck, briefly. Good times

Info: Road is clear all the way to the parking lot. Dont need a 4WD , there are some substantial potholes in some places.

Info: Most 2WD vehicles can make it to the trailhead. There was just one short segment that might be "iffy" if it rains, but the road is in good shape. Just a heads up, at the campground sign, go right (don’t go through the campground: it will take you to private property). Plenty of space to park at trailhead and a few spots along the road for overflow.

Info: eskermo’s report from 2/9/19 is still accurate. I will add two things:

There are not many good spots to park a 2WD car at the Campground without fear of getting stuck. (Although, my Corolla was the only vehicle there on a beautiful Saturday.)

The day fee to park at the Campground is self-service, $7 cash.

Info: Any car can make it to the Campground. Beyond that is about 6" of snow with a well packed track to the trailhead. Anything with 4wd/AWD and a little clearance should have no issue getting to the main TH.

Info: 8 inches of clearance and good tires will get you there. I have a stock 2000 Nissan pathfinder with bad tires

Info: Same as last report. Dry to campground, and thin packed snow to the parking lot. Comfortably made it in my Camry.

Info: Dry to the Deer Creek Campground. From the CG to the TH there is packed down snow, seems the trailhead gets quite a few visitors. Had no problem making the TH in a Toyota Corolla.

Info: Clear to trailhead. My Elantra easily got there, so any vehicle can.

Info: The recent snow did not make it difficult to get to the TH. Snow-free all the way to the parking area. Any vehicle can make it no problem.

Info: The summer trailhead can now be reached, but one small stretch requires high clearance vehicles.
