A low rider could easily make it to within 1/4 mile of the TH. The entrance to the TH is a bit rough, but a vehicle with good clearance, and a driver with patience, could easily make it. The only downside is that there are not toilets. This place is a paradise if you are looking for solitude. | ||||
7/16/2007 Posted On: 7/16/2007 By: mtgirl Info: The road should be passable to all 2WD vehicles, even with low clearance. Expect a good 90 minute+ ride from the 50/114 intersection. The only minor problem might be as you make the sharp right turn into the trailhead parking lot. It's a steep drop on uneven terrain. If you feel your car can't make the turn, there is a parking/camping spot about 1/4 mile before the trailhead lot on the right hand side. For those that can make the actual trailhead, there is a nice, flat camping spot under the trees. Spent the night on 7/14 for a 7/15 hike up San Luis. Very peaceful ! | ||||

Road has some minor rutting but should be no problem for non-4WD vehicles. The only problem in a low clearance vehicle might be when you actuall turn into parking lot, there is a little bit of a dip. | ||||
