Driving Directions

From Highway 285: In Grant, turn north onto the Guanella Pass Road. Drive 5 miles to reach the Abyss trailhead on the right.

From I-70: Take the Georgetown exit and follow the signs directing you to Guanella Pass. Once on Guanella Pass Road, drive for 12 miles until you reach the top of the pass. Continue down the other side (south) of the pass for approximately seven miles until you reach the Abyss trailhead on the left.

Open. On the west (Grant) side, the Guanella Pass road is usually plowed to mile marker 7.

Parking: Parking for 20 cars in the paved lot and then overflow along the side of the road.
Camping: Yes, established campgrounds nearby.
Restrooms: Yes, at the campground just up the road.
Fees: No
