The normal route to the trailhead is blocked by the big drift that is normally there this time of year about 3 miles before the trailhead. However, we made it to the trailhead taking the alternate route (stay right at the FR 252 left turn). The road was muddy and snowy but passable to the trailhead in a 4wd vehicle. We made it with no problem in a Ford explorer.

Thanks for your post, it is the most up to date info available from what I can find (even the Salida ranger station referred me to 14ers.com)

Do you think the new snow of 8 inches will make the drive impassable, even via your alternate route? Trying to ski the Angel on Saturday

It got pretty warm yesterday after the snow and it's warm today. My guess is that if you have a high clearance 4wd drive you could make it. Just a guess though.
