Status Update
Drove all the way to Stewart Creek/Eddiesville TH‘s this weekend. Ran into Wade Collins - the rancher that owns that homestead up there along Cochetopa Creek and he said the forest service had called him Thurs to let him know they had opened the gate. The road was shockingly bone dry all the way in. Enjoy!

San Luis snow?

Did you get a look at San Luis Peak by chance? I am wondering if there is any snow on the trail? Thanks for the TH report!

Some Snow - Yes

I ended up not actually hiking up Stewart Creek but headed up Hondo Canyon - 1 ridge over to the East - so conditions should be similar. Approaching treeline I lost the trail a few times but was able to avoid the large drifts of snow and stay mostly dry but there is definately snow up there. It wouldnt hurt to have some yak-traks or microspikes and maybe an ice axe on your pack for good measure...
I'll add 2 pictures to the thread I posted in ”14er Conditions” forums...The 2 attached pics are: Hondo canyon - near treeline (San Luis will look similar to this) and a view from the TH...
Hope that helps
