We attempted the 4wd road with a Jeep Cherokee and Subaru AWD and only made it a few hundred yards beyond winfield before having to stop. Encountered spotty 6"-14" snow drifts across the road and decided not to chance it especially considering the road is fairly narrow in most spots and turning around in snow might be difficult. Perhaps a beefed up 4wd with chains could make it. Not sure.
