 Report

Had to park about a 20 minute hike from the huge deserted house thing (Levick site I think?). I really regretted now bringing show shoes. It would have made my time from the parking spot to the gate soooo much faster. I would say that the snow is about 8" deep in most places, probably more. Past the gate things get a bit better.

How long to the top? Did you need other winter gear besides snow shoes? Any real avalanche possibility up high? Thanks for the pictures!

I did not make it to the top. I stopped before the old mine cabin after 2.5 hours-ish. I wore my wind proof shell and micro spikes the whole time. I estimated another 1.5 would have gotten me to the top.

Avy danger     2011-12-24 18:22:47
The snow got less as I got higher. No avy danger was obvious to me, but I'm a rookie, wouldn't put much stock in my avy conditions assessment
