Nice conditions early for the climb. Got a bit soft as the sun came out and the temps went up. Several skiers coming down who all must be vegetarians as they were all talking about corn or beans or something... :-)

Crampons, axe, poles and helmet are all prudent. I honestly don’t think you could make it up without crampons and it gets pretty slick as it warms so an axe is pretty well mandatory.

Edit: There are several boot step tracks going up so "maybe" you could make it up without crampons if you hit it really early in the AM. But I wouldn’t want to do that route without them.

Were you able to tell if Cristo is accessible via the East Ridge route? We want to ski the Couloir, but don’t have crampons so were hoping to approach on skins by the East route.

I saw a skier coming down the couloir who did exactly that so you should be good. You will have a bit of a walk back to the East ridge parking lot unless you have a car shuttle...
