Up to Bierstadt is pretty dry. The Sawtooth had some patches of snow. Please evaluate carefully before crossing any snow. Let me take a second to remind everyone how serious the Sawtooth is. It is a wonderful ridge climb, but it is not a walkup. I did this route yesterday when a lady fell and died. (God bless her family...so sad).

Making it safer...     2011-06-26 07:38:33
I noticed that I told everyone to take it seriously, but I didn't give any helpful information.

* If you do the Sawtooth in the next two weeks, consider carrying an ice axe just to be safe.
* Wear a helmet. Hopefully having a helmet on will help others recognize the seriousness of the route as well.
* Be very careful crossing snow. If it has a long run-out, consider taking a different way.
* Know the route. There was a dude with three dogs yesterday that was going to stroll over to Evans. He thought the best way would be to descend to Abyss Lake...

Stay safe out there!
