The trail is well-packed from the trailhead to timberline...snowshoes not needed as long as it's not too warm up there.

I went up this morning and could not find the trail past where the trail turns south around 11,500. Tried plowing the trail but it was a post hole fest. Did you get all the way up?

You must have been the guy we saw as we finished up...you had a Ford Expedition...? I’m not quite sure where "the trail turns south turn around 11,500", but I imagine that you got off track in the area (between the valley and timberline) where the (summer) trail zig–zags across that steep slope. We did PP as a night climb...so we had the advantage of firm snow, but the disadvantage of following several dead–end tracks (limited visibility!). We left a good trail (no snowshoes) that should have taken you on a very direct route to timberline...were you able to follow our footprints? When we went up late last night, all of the existing tracks were "impacted" by the afternoon sun...so nothing looked fresh, even though most of the tracks had been made earlier yesterday. We made good time coming down, as our fresh track (among the reticulate trails of "old" track) was easy to follow (plus, the pole stabs and dog footprints). That big open slope just above timberline was somewhat of an issue during the ascent and descent...very dark! Oh, and yes, we summited.

Did you happen to get a look at the Y Couloir? A group that had gone up on 15 March from Barr Trail had said that it looked to be corniced...
