Put away your snowshoes and spikes - not needed on this peak (don't believe, me check out the photos)! Traversed just a handful of snowdrifts in the gulleys, just follow the foot prints. Some of the steep part of the trail is starting to get muddy due to melting snow, but it was still completely avoidable today. Summer hikers are getting active, so be aware of crowded summits and trailheads. This one wasn't too bad, only saw about 18 people or so total today - only 5 of us at the summit when I was up there. Great 360deg views!

MissH,
Thanks for posting this condition update. I went up on Sunday and left my snowshoes/spikes in the truck based on your report. It too was a great day with about 15 people on the mountain. Best of all, the mountain seemed to have righted itself (a reference to pic #2)

Some things I‘d like to add. The turn off from the road to the trail is not very evident. It looks more like erosion than a trail and numerous people (including us) missed it and hiked a bit up the road before realizing this. Second, the rock wall where the old and new trail split was knocked down and several people were going up the old trail. We rebuild the wall and cairn to encourage people to take the new trail.

Good points, Dan! Lots of people went up the old trail, I think because it seemed faster. They missed out on the awesome views the ridge offers. I guess I found the turn off from the road okay because I was looking for a good spot for breakfast and deemed that one worthy. I'll see if I can turn the mountain right-side-up, people might not like having to ascend to get back to their cars. Thanks!
