You can drive to within 200yrds of the summer gate with a AWD/4x4. This morning was COLD. Snowshoes were not needed. Microspikes are definately nice to have. Photos (click for slideshow):

winmag4582001	Yes 2013-01-16 15:50:08 As of Sunday morning there was just light snow on the road to Leavick. You can park in the wide spot right above the old mine building. About 100yds down the road is where the snow gets about 6” deep and a little slick. You ”may” be able to get past that with a 2wd but I wouldnt risk it personally.
Zambo	Thanks for the beta! 2013-01-17 08:49:27 You happen to know how the Sherman-Sheridan saddle looked from the West? We're thinkin of heading in from Iowa Gulch. Looks pretty dry from the pics, but just curious if you knew any more.
