I hiked up to Tabeguache this morning from the Jennings Creek TH. The trail up to tarn that Bill refers to in the main route description is in very good shape. There were only a couple of trees blocking the main trail and it was easy to navigate around them. Once I split off from old (closed) trail and started heading up the valley towards the saddle between Carbonate and Tab's west ridge I was surprised by how beautiful the hiking was. It's still a fairly steady ascent but it avoids the badly eroded area that caused the closure. IMO this should be the standard route on Tabeguache. It's direct, it's scenic, it's not dangerous, and there is already a very well built trail that takes you up close to treeline. Just do a little research here on 14ers.com and you'll have no trouble finding good information about the route.
